On Thursday, October 4th, I attended my second Rotaract meeting. At the meeting, our leaders Josefine and Calle explained the social and volunteer activities for our Rotaract club the past year and the upcoming events for this semester. Last year, Rotaract clubs across the globe were dedicated to the ShelterBox program, a non-profit that collects materials for kits needed in disaster-stricken areas. This year, Rotaract clubs are increasing their level of commitment to Rotary International’s program called Polio Plus. For those of you who don’t know, eradicating Polio worldwide is one of Rotary International’s main goals. I am passionate Rotary’s mission to eradicate Polio because as a society we have only eradicated one disease, Smallpox. I believe it is important that the human community strive to cross off the diseases that we can. The Rotaract Campus Stockholm Club will be supporting this mission through fundraisers for Polio Plus this year.
